About Us

Our Approach

At Bennett Book Design, we work with clients to find the best way to communicate their message with words, type, and images — working in both the print and electronic media.

We enjoy building long-term relationships with clients by providing quality — creative yet classic — graphic design solutions with timely and considerate personal service. A remarkably diverse client base of writers, editors, business professionals, educational institutions, collectors, artists, and not-for-profits has resulted. We have a nationwide relationship with personal historians, individuals, and families requiring professional help with their book projects.

Recognition

Several awards on the national level have been received from the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and from the Chicago Book Clinic. John’s limited edition letterpress books can be found in both private collections and in the special collections of libraries in the United States and abroad.

We’d love to have the opportunity to work with you and help to bring your project to life.

—John, Peter, and Sheryl Bennett

John Bennett

John has been designing books for over thirty years, and his love for the “look” of books goes back to his childhood. After receiving his Master of Fine Arts degree (MFA) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, John became director of the University’s Silver Buckle Press, a working museum of letterpress printing history, and a lecturer in UW’s department of art. Later, John became an assistant professor of art at Oregon State University teaching graphic design, typography, and letterpress printing until deciding to put his full attention into book design.

Peter Bennett

Peter has been in the fine printing and binding industry for nine years, producing presentation pieces, invitations, and books for exclusive events and clients from all over the world. Peter started with us in 2020 and has been a great addition to our design and production coordination services.

Sheryl Bennett

Sheryl Bennett works with Bennett Book Design clients on image procurement and organization, illustration selection, permission attainment, and historical research. Sheryl’s career combines over thiry years in successful community and business development, personnel management, nonprofit management, and grant writing.
